It's a vineyard with reasonably priced wine. The food was great, and the personal service by the 3rd generation owner was fantastic! No inside tours available as it's a private residence. We had a great time enjoying the family at their tasting room with a lunch there. We had steak and french fries and a glass of their extra brut wine. Then, we took the rest of bottle home with us. The chateau is closed to visitors, except for a few courtyard rooms and stable. The grounds are open to walking around with ticket. The tickets run 6 Euros each for adults. Very limited area to see. The main house is not open. The grounds are nice and the pigeon tower is interesting. After there is a free tasting. Over all friendly staff and nice time and much less expensive compared to other chateaus but less to see. What a wonderful tour and dinner. So interesting, good natured, and with excellent food. Thank you Francois for a marvelous evening. Renaissance style castle Nitray makes great and located in the loire valley. They offer tastings and rent the venue for events. Make sure to visit them if you are in the vicinity. Great hidden gem for lunch and wine. The little cafe area was very charming with the chateau in the background. The food and were great as well as the service. We visited Chateau Nitray on an English-speaking City Tours castle tour. The owners prepared and served us lunch with wines from their vineyards. They were informative and funny, and we loved seeing the grounds and the pigeonry. Spent a lovely afternoon wandering round the gardens and open areas of the Chateau. There is a guided tour of the main Château in a Thursday that you need to book, but we just did the self guided tour which was lovely. There is guide you can download that tells you everything you need, and although the film on Barrel manufacture is in French (as it should be in France )it has a charm the means it really doesn’t matter if you speak the language or not. What is really nice is, although there is significant history associated with the Chateau it is very clearly a working vineyard, and a good one at that. There was a clear passion in everything they do around the wine, and the ones we tasted were excellent. Especially the Rosé, which was a delicious surprise. We came away with a couple of cases! At €6 for the tour with the tasting at the end this well worth the trip.
