Very average I'd have to say compared to other limestone I've seen. There were some very nice draperies but the aren't huge and they're not in a particularly natural state. The seem a bit like it's just a factory for making limestone trinkets.. And I still don't entirely understand what the roman grave things are about? It's unclear if they were found on site or if someone has moved these artifacts to the location they're now in..? Great trip.. a little commercialised but no hard sell on anything. Very informative and interesting, reference items coated in limestone sediment. Had a glass of complementary rosé wine. Entry was €7.50 which is value for money in my eyes. Very interesting gifts available A break from the chateaus. It’s cold inside. The guided in French only. A booklet in English. You can somewhat figure out what the booklet corresponds to. Two caves. Small wine tasting inside the cave. Museum/ gift shop. Very interesting to see how the calcified objects are formed. Our Lucie was very helpful, enthusiastic and informative. 2 caves, an hour guided tour, and the ability to sample a wine…what’s not to like? But to be honest we expected more. It was not very naturally beautiful. And the prehistoric statues added a level of fake that took from the authenticity. The only spoke French, and while there was detailed English books to read, it took away from the ability to ask questions. Pretty average experience overall, although the teenagers didn’t complain! Great place to when you are nearby. Has got a lot of history. The isn't long but we did enjoy it. I enjoyed looking around the and thought it was very interesting. Wouahhh sublime endroit vraiment à faire Truly unique experience - loved learning about this place, from the connection with the famous Villandry, to being a transit area for the resistance during WWII, to the artisanal objects made from the chemical reaction with the cave's calcite... you won't find a like this anywhere in the world. I recommend to after or before Villandry, as it will give more meaning to the castle's history (although this is a really great stop all on its own). Thanks also to our guide, who took the time to explain and answer questions - her passion for this place was obvious and made the all that much better. These small petrified are worth a to understand this surprising technique. disappeared for lunch half way through tour... She also only gave talks in French despite being able to speak English and just handed us a written which was difficult to read in the dim lighting of the cave. EDIT: After about 30 minutes another came and offered her apologies. She continued the with English translations. Very beautiful cave! It has litte figures that you can buy after the visit. Le tarif une famille nombreuse est cher (37€ 2 adultes et 4 enfants), seulement 1h de visite... J ai connu les grottes dans mon adolescence étant tourangelle j y reviens avec plaisir à 63 ans .la est agréable,la visite est bien ,les salles sont petites mais elle n y ait rien .
