Best for families with young children and campers seeking a low-key Connecticut shoreline base. Skip if you want large waves, complete campsite privacy, or a nature center — it's closed and some bathroom facilities are in poor shape. Arrive early on summer weekends — the beach fills quickly. Campsites near the beach access road get traffic noise until dusk. Out-of-state day parking runs around $15; CT residents park free. Beach closes at 7:30 PM. No boogie boards permitted in the water.
