Falls of the Ohio State Park

Ideal for families, history buffs, and nature lovers visiting the Louisville area. Skip if you expect traditional forest trails or shade — the flat rock beds are exposed and can be hot and smelly near the water. Check the park's website for current water levels before visiting — fossil beds disappear when the river is high. Bring water to rinse mud from fossils. Wear closed-toe shoes; sandals are unsafe on the rocks. Arrive by 9am on hot days for shade on the beds. Parking is $2; free street parking is available just outside the grounds.
