White Mountain National Forest

A highly recommended destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. While popular, the sheer size of the forest allows for a variety of experiences. Visit during the shoulder seasons (spring or early fall) for fewer crowds and pleasant weather. Kancamagus Highway offers many photo opportunities. The visitor center is staffed with friendly people and has useful information. Be prepared for crowds during peak foliage season and exercise caution near waterfalls due to slippery rocks.
