Great location to visit Plymouth, which is just a short ride away on a number 50 bus, £6 return (£2 teen-agers) (Feb 25). Well spaced out pitches, good facilities, not too expensive. Extremely quiet despite being a very short drive off the A38. I came for 5 nights in November 2024. Hard standing for my van. Very quiet and pleasant surroundings. Electric hook up, showers, toilets etc included in the price £29.50 (per night) off season rate. Great stopover near Plymouth. Good facilities. There did appear to be a droning noise coming from an adjacent industrial estate. You have to leave to walk along the river, it doesn't actually run through it. Visited a friend who was camping there, dogs are allowed and the place is very clean, including the toilets. Would highly recommend the Sunday carvery, I am a vegetarian and they let me take the meat for my dog. Would definitely visit again We stayed here April 2025. Really easy to get to as it is just off the A38. Despite being close to the main road it is very peaceful. The pitches are a good size. The block could probably do with an upgrade, but the showers are lovely and warm. Very easy access to The Drake Trail, so we could cycle from Plymouth to Tavistock. We ate in a fantastic local pub called The Windmill Chargrill (5 mins by car, 10 mins cycle); the chef (Garry) really knows his food and all reasonably priced too Beautiful campsite, excellent facilities. All very well kept and quiet. Great location for Plymouth and surrounding areas Well these people get a zero because they say my sister had too many quests (my sisters booking was nothing to do with ours). I know she cleared it with reception because I was there, so it seems the warden and reception do not communicate. I was staying in my motorhome nearby and we did go and visit my sister. We got on very well with all our neighbours and further afield. We went to book yesterday and there is an issue because we dogs mess behind and we had to many visitors (apart from possibly my sister who was staying very close by). I was supposed to have a phone call so I could explain my side of the story, but never received a phone call, so I thought I would express my views here, I did give the owner a chance. It’s a shame really because up until yesterday it would have been a 4 or possibly a 5. I have just seen the reply from Riverside and they are talking total rubbish. There was nothing to complain about. We even got on well with our neighbours to a point we help a poorly lady. My wife and I are very quiet and have great respect for others. This is the first time I have ever had an issue on a site. I would expect if there was a problem they would say something during the stay. I was there two nights and we certainly did not cause any problems. What happened when I I have no idea, but Riverside are very unfair to ban a quiet couple in there 50’s DONT WORRY I WILL NOT BE BACK! We booked a "ferry pitch" for the night which is a spot in the car park with EHU and the bonus of being able to stay until the evening ferry departure time. Full use of facilities £27 On arrival we were upgraded to a fully serviced pitch and still allowed to stay until 2pm to go the the ferry. The is so welcoming and clean. Toilets and showers spotless. Laundry room has really large machines, £6 for a large load, 80p for the dryer. Swimming pool, takeaway, and restaurant - everything you need. Grounds are beautiful too. A great spot before the rest of our travels. A lovely camp surrounded by trees, a river and walking trails. Toilet and areas were very and well maintained. We will definately return. Lovely small family friendly campsite with brilliant facilities. The pool was great and warm enough to swim in even though the weather was on the cooler side. We had a fantastic and very reasonably priced meal in the bar, the pitch was good and the toilet/shower blocks were very and tidy. Our dog loved the riverside walks and the campsite location is brilliant, you can get to the coast, the moors and the city centre really easily and there is plenty to do in the local area. We will start with the positives… the toilets and showers were clean, and the pitches were well kept! However, our experience was married by an unpleasant encounter with the lady at reception. Our dog has spinal issues and can’t walk far, so we leave him in our camper van while we go out. We’re responsible pet owners—he’s not for extended periods, he has water, and it was winter with the heating on in the van. As we were walking out to be picked up by a family member, we were stopped by the receptionist, who insisted that we couldn't leave without our dog. She seemed very condescending while we explained why we had him in the van. She said that a dog had died on the in the summer, so it was now a rule that dogs couldn’t be unattended. This rule isn’t mentioned on their website but was part of the rules provided at check-in paper work (which we missed). While we understand that she’s looking out for the welfare of animals, the way she spoke to us was uncalled for. Perhaps because we’re young, she felt she could speak to us in that manner? When we explained that our dog has spinal issues, her suggestion was to buy a buggy for him. We know our dog’s needs and can assure you that he’s much happier in the warmth of our camper van than being jostled in a buggy. A polite inquiry would have made all the difference. We understand the safety concerns after a tragic incident, but we were there in winter, and it didn’t feel like the same level of risk applied. In the end, she allowed us to leave but told us we had to be back within two hours. Frankly, dictating when guests need to return for their pets felt unreasonable. While the itself was nice, the treatment we received us feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. Theres no wifi here, which feels like a major omission in 2025. And the nightly noise from the nextdoor childrens football training ground is not insignificant. However, the is clean, level, well mown. Showers are hot. Overnight you may find Deer around the site! The is fairly well located and next to a nice dog walk close by. The itself is very pleasant and the pitches are good. You cannot choose the pitch and you are told where to pitch and whether to go in forwards or backwards. Unfortunately however the toilet block lets the down enormously as it is absolutely horrendous. It is very tired, outdated and unclean. The block has not been cleaned at all during the week we have been here. The toilets are old and unclean. There are broken bits everywhere and un emptied bins. The showers are even more unpleasant. They too small, dirty and in the women’s they have plastic curtains which cling to your body as you try to wash (🙈). There is a push button to get the started and then you have to keep pushing that button every 7 seconds to keep the running. There is nowhere to hang your clothes and there is no bench. Your clothes have to be wrapped up in a plastic bag or outside so they don’t get wet but even outside of the there is nowhere to put that bag. The whole block is disgusting. In the laundry room is ok but again dated and there is no running hot water and two of the taps don’t even turn on. Unfortunately we will not be using this again and the two couples I spoke to this week have both said the same and for the same reasons. If you have a dog you are NOT allowed to toilet it inside the grounds… The other Under 25’s and same sex groups of over 3 are not allowed to stay here??? I stayed there their last year went to book again and they said I had loads of visitors and let my dog poop everywhere this is not true yes it's local.to my home and my eldest popped in but this was all cleared with reception and I always picked up my dog poop i have children and wouldn't want anyone standing in it. So.im not happy as they never spoke to me at the time and my children wanted to go back this year and now they are sad. Maybe your wardens and reception staff should speak to one another. I stayed half a week and my friend stayed the other half under my name.
