It was near Christmas and most tables were reserved. Seeing our disappointment one of the staff checked and said we could use one of the tables providing we were done in about hour and half. We were happy as we had been driving and phoning places and most were booked up. The staff were and so helpful. We had beverages and sis had wine. Reasonable selection of hot and cold drinks. We chose our meals. They had battered fish and chips with peas and tarter sauce. I chose steak and kidney suet pudding, mash potato and veg with gravy. We did not have to wait long before it arrived. And boy there was a lot and it was nice and hot. I loved every mouthful and so did my sis and brother. Great value I thought for money. And so very tasty. When finished we chose desert and I had apple and berry crumble with custard and they chose strawberry cheesecake with cream. And once again a lot of it and very tasty. It's a place and overlooks views of Dartmoor national park. Plenty of seating inside and also outside. Large amount of parking. Also disabled access. Toilets were clean. And like I said staff were lovely. All in all a warm and experience and I personally do recommend. A place to come for breakfast, lunch, afternoon cake or for a simple cuppa. If sitting outside, the views are lovely. Near Kit Hill so ideally situated after a visit there (more stunning views). Service was prompt, food arrived hot (always a plus point for me) and prices are fair. My one and only downside are the toilets... they needed cleaning and the bin needed emptying. I did report it to a member of the team who said she would get someone to go in there to sort it out. Just hoping if a serving/cooking member they wear gloves and diligently wash their hands after and before they continue their normal job? I plan to return, in a couple of weeks, with my Dad, to treat him to a breakfast. Looking forward to it already. Interesting place to visit. Popular with bikers and ol cowboys. Great vista. Not so great coffee but you get what you pay for. Looking at the amount of people there it is popular with the proletaire. 🤠 Fantastic food and enormous portions. If we'd been staying in the area we would have gone back frequently. Great variety of familiar favourites and more unusual offerings. The desserts looked amazing but we were too full! A real gem in the middle of nowhere with a wonderful view. We loved the food here! The cake size was huge and the portions of main courses were just right. I had the soup and it was chunky and delicious. My mum had the quiche of the day and said it was delicious! service, very welcoming. They have some construction going on in the kitchen at the moment so they are running on a temporary menu, but the lady mentioned that should only be for a week or so as they are updating their kitchen. The shop there is full of items which would be great for gifts! I’ll definitely be back! The most incredible pasty I've ever had - went for the peppery one. And the cream tea my goodness, it was life affirming. A must visit if you're in the area. Popped in for a first time visit. We had two cheese scones, a cappuccino and a hot chocolate. The scones were huge and very tasty, and the drinks were top class. Friendly and helpful staff. The views outside are absolutely stunning. Recommended. Had a superb meal today The steak and kidney pudding was large and full of tender meat with veg and mash Two of us had that whilst the daughter had a small fish and chips with garden peas which wasn't that small Generous portions of food Oh then two of us had fruit crumble which again was delicious For what we had I thought the price was very reasonable and certainly not expensive Highly recommended Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
